Research commentary - A Systems Approach for More Effective and Inclusive Agricultural Innovation for Sustainable Transformation

We are not on track to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, with current food systems perpetuating inequalities and failing to tackle rising food insecurity. Systemic innovation “concerns how people engage in a process to support systemic thinking and action” and can be considered a game-changer for sustainability. In a new blog led by Erin McGuire (Horticulture Innovation Lab, University of California Davis), a team of researchers, including HortiBonn’s Thi Thu Giang Luu, proposes a Systems Approach for More Effective and Inclusive Agricultural Innovation for Sustainable Transformation. In a series of 5 commentaries associated with the blog, the team outlines their vision on how actors in Agricultural Research for Development can be more effective in producing sustainable innovations, through a self-reflective systems approach. HortiBonn is excited to see Thi Thu Giang Luu among the amazing minds that put together this exciting roadmap for inclusive innovation scaling.
