HortiBonn at DLR's Apple Day 2023

In addition to current results from DLR projects, for example on the topic of hand pruning vs. mechanical pruning, HortiBonn was also present: Lars Zimmermann presented his project on sensor-based harvest forecasts and Christine Schmitz reported on decision-making aids for frost protection measures. In addition, numerous companies from the fruit sector were represented to present innovations, including in agricultural technology and storage. Of course, KoGa was also represented with a booth supervised by Dr. Jan Ellenberger. Here, this year’s focus was the presentation of the QS-funded project “Ecological upgrading of irrigation ponds: increasing resource efficiency and securing resources in fruit growing”. The large number of visitors - mainly experts from the region, but also from Styria, South Tyrol and the Netherlands - made it necessary to divide the visitors into several small groups. Throughout the guided farm tour, as well as at the obligatory lunch, the opportunity for exchange among visitors and with the exhibitors was actively used. We wish everyone a good harvest and look forward to Apple Day 2024!
